Some would call me a "slacker", others "inconsistent". I call it. Well, ya, all that. Haha. I fell asleep on the job, what can I say? But I'm back, baby! It's no inward singing, but still check it out.
So, I've been through a lot in the past year. Some disappointment for sure, but I want to get back to what I'm passionate about. Food, drink, and all that the blog represented.
The Review
Today I went to Great Harvest Bread, in Nashua, NH. It's been some time since I've been here, but since one of the things I'm considering for my future is in food, I thought I should do some market research. Their claim to fame is their homemade breads, but there is more to it. I decided to try a trinity of items.
- Chimichurri egg sandwich with sausage, on cheddar garlic bread
- Pumpkin scone
- Fog Latte
Chimichurri Egg Sandwich
The bread was awesome! Though, I'm not surprised. The chimi was sharp, not bitter, and well made. A great balance of fresh herbs and fresh garlic heat. The egg was velvety soft, buttery even. The sausage was not salty. I highly recommend this sandwich! Well done.
Pumpkin Scone
It was more cakey than the type of scone I'm accustomed to. I could look past that, but the frosting was too sweet for me. It needed more 'cream cheese' and less sugar. This could be amazing, but unfortunately I feel as though they are average due to the over-sweetened frosting. This is most certainly a dessert rather than something you may consider for breakfast. The pumpkin flavor is good though, and can easily be shared due to size and richness.
Fog Latte
Peet's cold brew, matched with chicory syrup and some cream. A bit too sweet as well for my taste. I would probably ask for 1/2 the syrup. Decent coffee though, very smooth.
General
The website has room for improvement. I went looking to see what I could find for better input on the items I enjoyed today, and everything, the menu included, seems out of date. Looks like the last time it was updated was around Easter. The video that plays on the home page, though, is wonderful. Really gives the essence of the joint. Family, laid back, decent portions, good food. The staff I interacted with seemed cheery and knowledgeable. They have a great selection for lunch as well.
When it gets down to it, you should check them out if you have not already. They have a great selection and the joint is welcoming. Enjoy!
